After spending at least 12 years in traditional whisky casks the Balvenie Doublewood 12 is transferred into American Oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads, and thereafter into Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for further nine months. With the final maturing in large oak vessels, the complex and smooth taste of the Balvenie Doublewood 12 is completed.
